Now Kiwini. He sounds like a wanna be Fiji. Well how many professional basket ball players today grew up saying " I wanna be like MIke" Let me put you up on knowledge and something called inspiration. In order to be something great, you must copy something great. To be compared to someone like Fiji that is a compliment to an artist but to know that its Kiwini, that show's the island has more talented brothers like fiji in the south pacific to represent local music.
Siaosi can sing very well? Thank God your not a producer!
So the three things that people need to do according to you to be a successful local artist is,RUN OUT OF BREATH,COPY THE WAY FIJI SINGS,AND HAVE PEOPLE THAT MAKES NEGATIVE REMARKS ABOUT A POSITIVE THING. Hey Lost Coast keep on bringing the music. There is people who don't understand the business and only can commit on their ignorance to the industry but if they don't know , let me let them know. first of all besides all the creation and expenses it takes to keep putting out good music, How do you guys get compensated for all your hard work. I mean we live in a sharing world and 85% of cd sales has dropped because of the increase of down loads and video's is free so I guess that explains the cost of your guys rate's for live performance. I also notice that your guys artist's such as Fiji,Laga and J-boog's who have their own album out doesn't have a 2nd job and this is what they do for a living, WOW! that can really bother people when they feel their music is good enough but not enough to live on.
You know its kind of hard for me to work and spend my hard earn money on a concert ticket to watch and support local musicians play at the shell but the next day when i go eat breakfast ,the same person I paid to watch to sing is now serving me breakfast. I wonder if thats because all the local music supporters who appreciate the free gig's.
I know that anything you do you get what you put in and if making music is what you do then there is no room for anything else. You cant expect 100% from something that you dont give 100% to.
I seen you guys around and I never detected a high maka maka attitude but if I had low self esteem i probably would be little myself and to justify the way I feel it would be easier to point the finger at someone else instead of understanding the reality of the situation.

So,,,,,,,,,, in a nutshell you are trying to say that LOSTCOAST and its artist are the most talented new / vet artist in hawaii,,,,,, and hawaii and the radio stations should back them up and put all of our support behind them because they are the ones who are going to lead the way in a new revolution and movement in music and lead us to the promise land internationally?

All of the local artist put their best efforts, time, sweat, tears and money into their craft and product just as Lostcoast does. NO, we should not put out total attention on them! We are going to put our attention on the HUNGY musicians and bands who do it for the local people and the love of making music that makes us happy.

Yes we go to concerts and see Lostcoast and they are good,,,,,,,, but not better than all the other groups! They only perform in the primetime spots because they jump on stage with Fiji. Any group local can rock a concert in a primetine spot at the shell! Loastcoast only hang in cliques and are high maka maka.

What about the groups such as Natural vibes, Ekolu, Kapena, Kawao, Koauka, Rebel Souljaz, Hookoa and so on who bust their okoles in the studio and do lots of live performances for little money and at times for free for the people.

Look, I rarely know these guys but there is one thing that I do know. These guys produce great music!!!! They got some talented boys and a vet himself, Mr. Fiji. I've always been a fan of Boog and when I purchased his "Hear me Roar" cd, I must admit, I was blown away!!! Then Fiji comes out with his cd, and again, Im amazed! Now Kiwini, or Kivini, anyways, his cd was amazing too!!!! Then I find out, Laga put work into that cd!!! And he's an artist also. Laga, Siaosi, Fiji, Boog, n Kiwini are a talented bunch that needs everyones full support!!! I know that they are trying to stream out to the mainland to let other people love the island music. When i hear these boys cd's, i noticed that they put a lot of work!!! Show em love peeps! Cuz i know most of you been to the "Throw Da Shaka" concert and admit, They was off the Chains!!! Doesn't Ilona Irvine have a bunch of kids? Any mother should be ashamed to sing lyrics that promote illegal drug use such as in Island Boy, i taste the "sweet island cannabis." KCCN, I forbid that other "Island Music" station to be played in my home to avoid my children singing lyrics that glorify the use of illegal drugs. Please don't make me have to censor them listening to your station too.

Ilona, don't stoop so low just to make money. Follow the lead and examples of the new local boy artists such as Maoli, Hookoa, etc, who write clean lyrics and still become successful. Do you let your children listen to your music? Do you think you're setting a good example for them and for the other influential keiki and teens who listen to island music? It's time to grow up mommy, stop glorifying and promoting the use of illegal drugs to make a fast buck and become a principled artist with dignity and integrity, if not for any one else then maybe for the sake of your own children.
