Aloha to everyone who comments on this site. My mana'o to you is to keep things positive. I sense so much anger and jealousy from the comments I read and I believe its truly not about who is better than who. Everyone has an opinion but sometimes your opinion can offend someone. Be supportive of island music before your island music artist will not have the drive to make music anymore. If you disrespect someones work then you may give discouragement to the group/artist to not make music again. If you feel that you support 1 group in particular, that's fine but be positive on everything you post. Its difficult now days for musicians to even make music. You find most musicians that make music now days working other jobs just to make ends meet and yet this business was made for people to do what they love to do and be able to make a living from it. Imagine, if there was no more island music, there will be NO MORE Cd release parties, Shack @ Waikiki, pipeline cafe and most of all the KCCN Birthday Bash. Personally I enjoy all types of music, most I enjoy is our island music because it gives off positive vibes! Gidigidi hit right on the kini popo, Imua Garza is the master mind behind Rebel, to me HE IS THE MOST talented person in the local Island music scene. The creativity showed when the Opihi Pickers were playing, I mean even though they never got the amount of airplay that they diserved. I still say the Opihi Pickers 3rd album "All For One" is the most creative album in the Island Reggae Music History. I mean that album still had the island vibe and reggae influence, but it wasn't the same two or four chord songs like everyone else. Back to the Rebel Souljahz, they have great vocals, lyrics, and talent, but you can't over look at the All-Star cast that they have backing them, Nainoa Nu`uhiwa (drummer) formerly of Next Generation, Kahale Morales (bass player) formerly of the Opihi Pickers, and also Art Viloria and Sherwin which adds to the sound, talent, and vetrenship of teh Rebel Souljahz. I mean I love their music, even live, but the biggest gripe that I have with them is with Mike, he has a musical illness called LSS, Lead Singer Syndrome!!! If you notice only Kulani, Bubba, and Will harmonize. As for Bub's he has a great voice, even though he is the ragga rapper, let him take lead in a song or two. Don't tell me he can't sing because I heard it in "Be my Wife" on you tube. Another thing, to challenge the Rebel Souljahz, I would like to hear them do four part harmony hear and there, they have the ability to if they work at it. Mike also I think has to learn how to harmonize as well. Vocally Nesian Nine is much better and has stronger harmony. Just FYI, not hating on Rebel Souljahz, just stating facts. Mahalos

Honestly, One Groove's "The Movement" CD blows out everyone else in Hawaii. Their sound, music, vocals, lyrics, etc. are so unique that it's nothing I've heard here in Hawaii. Everyone else's style is the same no matter how many cd's they come out with, but One Groove comes with refreshing and different sounds that the radio needs to play more of. Stop hiding the solid reggae music and start playing more One Groove songs, like Irie Groove Party, Lions Roar, or Roots, Rock, Revolution.

Rebel Souljahz distributor is using a political angel to get their product sold! And Imua Garza does have MUCH to do with making their songs better. he arranges each song musically with punches/breaks/leads/hornlines/basslines/guitar/clavenet/EVERY SOUND AND INSTRUMENT to make it sound a bit clever to what was already written. Imua brings the song to life. Imua is the molder. Imua’s skills made it happen! They would not have had the results that they've had without Imua on their 1st CD. Ever heard them before Imua? 1 word, TERRIBLE! It's good to support, BUT be realistic! They were IMUA GARZA MADE,,, and not made on self effort and self knowledge of music! I like them, but I am realistic of talented, self creative and hard working groups,, and Rebelz have not proven to be this type! Just a thought. Why do you think that Kahale is their bass player? To help arrange their music as he IMPUT with Imua for the Opihi pickers when they were still together! Like I said,,,IMUA GARZA MADE them AND THE RADIO STATIONS LIKE IT BECAUSE OF THIS AND RADIO CONNECTION WITH THEIR DISTRIBUTOR. POLITICS!

I have to say that their song "Irie Groove Party" sums up what we've been trying to explain to these people out here about our music from back home. Words for that song is great. "We love the reggae vibration but Hawai'i is our foundation! U know that! Das my jam. Big time curiosity bout that thing called Hawaiian reggae out here braddahs! This is sad you hawaiians coming on here to bash the person who is working hard to do the best he can to bring us hawaiians the best music these islands creates. Its not one easy job juggling everything that goes on in that radio station. If you people love the music so much like you guys say you do especially by voting for it, the best way to support them is to go out and buy their CD. Then you can listen to the songs that you love anytime of the day, and you can actually say that you when support hawaiian musicians by purchasing the CD instead of burning them from the internet. I dont understand how people can say they are true hawaiians when they are on here hanoinoing other people, if you no more something good to say no say it at all. Uncle David thank you so much for all your hard work that you do for us and keep up the good work especially at birthday bash and other concerts, with out your aloha and big heart us hawaiians would not be able to save some money by going to a concert and seeing more then one of our favorite bands play. We are very grateful for all of your true comments , we are just tryin to let you all hear what is in our hearts , as well as all the other artist in the 808 state and the world . So to those who aren't diggin on what and "WHO WE ARE" , think of it this way"BELIEVING is seeing and seeing is BELIEVING", their was nothing we could do to the sound, our voices were in the hands of the tv station and its operators, so we were only as good as how they made us sound. I got to say that in all honesty, Fiji is really creative. Don't know him personally but he does have good ideas and melodies in his music.
