Wed 5/7: Kids Day 2008
Look for Pipi, along with other local celebs and volunteers Oahu-wide selling special editions of the Honolulu Advertiser to benefit Parents and Children Together (PACT). This year's theme is "The Ocean & Me" featuring essays, poems and artwork from Hawaii's keiki. PACT is a private non-profit service agency with a history of over three decades' service to the community and is dedicated to promoting and supporting healthy individuals, families and communites. Fri 5/9: `Olelo Youth Xchange Awards Ceremony
Check out the entries for this year's Youth Xchange Awards any time on Olelonet at www.olelo.org. All videos are written, produced, and edited by K-12 public and private school students statewide using different genres. They are also competing in different categories which include HI-5 Recycling, Start Living Healthy and Peacemaker. The awards ceremony & luncheon will be at the Ihilani Resort and Spa. Sun 5/18: A Benefit for the Bodacious and Beautiful!!
It's the 5th annual Hawaii Wellness Institute Fundraiser at Waioli Tea Room (2950 Manoa Rd, Honolulu) from 11 am to 2 pm. Featuring a delicious brunch, exquisite piano playing by David Hicken, an outrageously fun live auction, chair massages, free drawings, gift bags and fabulous sale items for every budget and taste. Tickets at $35 or 2 for $60. Funds raised will provide workshops to women in need at the Domestic Violence Action Center and the Hawaii Wellness Institute. Mon 5/26: Lantern Lighting Ceremony
At 6:30 pm, ala Moana Beach Park, all are invited, regardless of social, cultural or religion affiliation, to take part in a special Latern Lighting Ceremony to remember those who have passed on. Each handcrafted lantern carries prayers for those victims of disasters, war, water-related accidents, famine and disease; and carries also hope for harmony and world peace. All proceeds collected from Lantern Floating Hawaii are donated to Ala Moana Beach park through the C&C of Honolulu.
